Put on some headphones and adjust the volume, as we are about to enter the top 5 loudest Porsche.

The latest video is from Porsche "Top 5" series while the brand combs through the Porsche Museum to find the models worthy of such a list. The first is the 1978 911 Safari, which has only one rear silencer. At the start of the 3.0-liter engine, a loud roar is heard and a sound meter indicates the car's maximum at 122.9 decibels. For a baseline, 130 dBa is the pain threshold for the human ear. At 122.9 dBa, the rest of the list is downright impressive … and somehow scary.

Number four is another race car: the 911 RSR race car of the 996 generation. Knowing that he was born for the racetrack with little respect for noise control regulations, the car registered 123.4 dBa. Still below the pain threshold, but still loud. Although loud, the car sounds wild in its own way.

Porsche believes that number three is the Carrera GT, but the camera moves to a 928. The car was part of the collection for decades, but was fully restored in 2014 to restore the old glory. How loud is the 5.4-liter V-8 engine? Loud enough to register 126.4 dBa.

Number two is a dark thing, but mighty loud. It is an 1964 804 Formula 1 car. The car has an air-cooled flat motor (8), and as the video shows, it can hear ears. It registers a whopping 137.8 dBa. We've officially crossed the pain threshold, but that's what makes us long when F1 cars sounded so good.

Finally, it depends on a last car: the 911 Carrera RSR Turbo 2.1. Ear protection is required at this point as the Le Mans legend and the turbocharged 2.1-liter Flat-6 engine register 138.1 dBa.

Just do not take our word for it, click on "Play" at the top to hear the cars themselves.
