Imo Governor Rochas Anayo Owelle Okorocha has responded to his Friday suspension by the National Working Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Okorocha, who recently won a Senate seat under the party, was suspended along with Governor of Ogun, Ibikunle Amosun.

In response to the developments, Okorocha attacked the party's national leader, Adams Oshiomole, in a statement released via his spokesman Sam Onwuemodo.

Read the statement;

"By 2019, Oshiomhole felt that such a man should be treated with contempt. He presented the party's governorship card to Hope Uzodinma, who had never relinquished his membership in the PDP like others on the Senate seat and gave all sorts of flimsy apologies.

"And if Oshiomhole good for APC and Imo Would he have given the party's ticket to a man who had imposed five allegations of corruption on him because of the travel ban, as a candidate of the party?

On February 23, 2019, presidential and national council elections, Governor Okorocha won ten out of twelve local governments in the Orlu Zone to win the winner for the Imo West Senator circle. He also introduced four House of Representatives candidates on the APC and AA platforms, with a seat in the Senate and two seats in the House of Representatives.

"And if APC members in the US still celebrate the party's success in the presidential and national assembly elections, Oshiomhole, in his wisdom or lack of belief, believed that the best course of action in these circumstances would be to suspend two governors, who did well in the election, even though he played safely in 2015 and 2019 in Edo State without known pressure.

"Oshiomhole, this time with the alleged expulsion, acted only out of the fear that God, in his infinite mercy, could give Governor Okorocha a role in the Senate, in the nation's overall interest.

"Men like him barely sleep with their eyes closed. They always sleep with their eyes open because they've killed sleep with their actions and inactions. And unfortunately, the alleged expulsion for him can not stand, because the law has long since taken care of it. " Said Okorocha.
