The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has registered over 1.8 million candidates for the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The Head, Media and Information of the Board, Dr. Ing. Fabian Benjamin, announced this on Thursday in Lagos.

The registration of candidates for the entire Computer Based Test (CBT) began on February 10 and ended on February 21.

Benjamin said the registration was a great success, adding that there were no problems at the various accredited registration centers across the country.

"We have completed registration and have registered over 1.8 million candidates for UTME this year.

"The registration is closed on February 21st, when we set the pin vending for the exercise.

Some candidates who had purchased the PIN, but for some reason could not register before February 21, were allowed to do so until February 25, 24:00.

"The registration was finally closed on February 25, he said.

No date has yet been set for printing the audit certificate

The JAMB spokesman reported in some areas rumors that candidates could begin by March 2 with the expression of their exam notification.

"That's misleading and absolutely incorrect.

"Let me be clear that the Board has not set a deadline for the review and printing of the Candidates Notice Candidate.

"The board will announce the date for the UTME 2019 soon.

"At present, no date has been set for the examination and printing of the examination notification certificate.

"The test certificates are usually printed two weeks before the main examination, but only when the exam date is fixed.

"There is no way that an examination notice can be printed if the exam date itself has not yet been set."

He therefore urged applicants and other stakeholders to remain calm and assured them that the Board would make announcement and reasonable awareness of the date for the examination and printing of the audit certificate.
