President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to investigate the $ 16 billion allegedly spent on the energy sector during the Democratic Party of Peoples (PDP) government by ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo, according to DailyPost.

The report revealed that Buhari vowed Tuesday in the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential campaign in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa.

The presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, was Obasanjo's deputy from 1999 to 2007 when the money was allegedly spent

Buhari said: "The previous government mentioned alone that it spent $ 16 billion on power. But you are better witnesses than me.

"Where is the power? Where is the money? We will follow them and God wants us to get them, and we will get our money back. "

However, at a meeting with the Secretariat Complexes of the Councils of Traditional Rulers of the Rivers and the Bayelsa States, the President said: "I assure you that I am all looking for free, fair and credible elections. The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC knows my attitude.

"The Nigerians are entitled to free and fair elections. Nobody should intimidate other citizens under this leadership. Nobody is allowed to wrest the ballot boxes and run with them. I will make sure that the votes count. "

Buhari praised the introduction of the Permanent Voter Card, PVC and Card Reader, and called on the nation to adopt the technology, arguing that without the sixteen years of dysregulation of the Democratic People's Party (PDP), the PDP would not have ended.

"In 16 years, the PDP believed that nobody could remove them from office. The introduction of the PVC and card reader has ensured that our votes in 2015 are counted and the votes of the Nigerians in 2019 will count, "he said.
