In Chicago last week ford be debuted Revised lineup of the F series for heavy duty tasks There are not yet any performance, performance and efficiency figures available with the new 7.3-liter V8 gasoline engine with a naturally aspirated engine, but the Blue Oval expects it to be "the most powerful gas V8 in its class".

Shortly after the premiere of HD truck In the Chicago Auto Show 2019, motor authority I had the opportunity to talk to Ford spokesman Mike Levine, who told the company that the new engine could fit into the current generation mustang and F-150, That's technically possible, but does it make any sense? Not really.

Levine commented that the new V8 is a true truck engine with an iron block. Although it uses a new overhead valve-in-block valve architecture with a forged steel crankshaft, it remains a powertrain specifically designed for HD trucks.

This means that it is too heavy for the Mustang and affects the weight balance. Therefore, one can say that Ford never uses it in sports cars. However, that does not mean that tuning companies do not experiment. As Levine predicted, we will see the 7.3-liter V8 in the pony at SEMA this or next year.

2020 Ford Super Duty 7.3 gas engine

Our colleagues at motor authority claim we could see the new V8 under the hood of the F-150, but we will not put our money on this option. Even in this segment, manufacturers are more or less following the downsizing trend, and Ford is unlikely to go against the trend.

In the new Super Duty, the 7.3-liter V8 works together with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The same transmission is also available for the 6.7-liter Power Stroke engine, which now works with a new injection system. As a side note, the 10-speed automatic of the "box", which is currently offered for the Mustang, very similar.
