Jacksonville, FL – A distinctive mid-engine Corvette prototype will be part of the mid-engine sports car class of the Amelia Island Concours d 'Elegance 2019. The ad should also contain examples of DeTomaso, Ferrari and Lamborghini.

The 1973 Chevrolet Corvette XP-897 GT was one of two mid-engine Corvette prototypes designed by the General Motors Styling Division to promote smooth and high engine speeds Wankel rotary engine, The rotary engine was to drive from 1976 GM cars, so that both automobiles were shown from September 1973 to April 1974 at the major international auto fairs. He was crushed in the early 80s. He was rescued by Corvette author Tom Falconer with the support of former GM design chief Chuck Jordan and recently exhibited in Kent, England.

On March 10, 2019, the XP-897 GT will be exhibited along with a recently acquired 1973 GM rotary engine at the 24th Amelia Island Concours d & # 39; Elegance.
